Each person on entering the room received a ticket entitling them to one of the prizes on the Christmas tree. Naturally, tho lovo of chanco, inherent in all, caused tho greatest interest to centro on the Christmas treo, and throughout the evening tho place was thronged by persons waiting eagerly to hear their number called. Perhaps the most interesting thing in the room Waa a spinning wheel, which was exhibited and worked by Mrs Aims. Owing to tho novelty of tho sight, this lady's operations soon gathered a crowd around hereager to witness tho method of converting wool into worsted. During the evening Mr Carter sang " Oh, tho Bonnie Hills of Scotland." Selections were also played upon the piano afc intervals. Tho sale of work opened again this afternoon.
