COMPULSORY EDUCATION-

At the Police Court this morning, William Pooley was charged with neglecting to send his son, Frank Pooley, between the age of 7 and 13 years, to a public school, under the provisions of the Education Act, 1877. Mr Blades appeared for the City School s Committee. Evidence was given by Mr Small, Truant Officer,, in support of the charge.and Mr 11. C..Baddeley,R.M., issued an order as required by the Act. He explained that if this order was not obeyed another charge could be made against the defendant.—Mr Blades applied for costs, and the amount of 10s 6d was allowed.
