MYSTERIOUS DISCOVERY.
LATER PARTICULARS
The circumstances of this unfortunate case have assumed a serious complexion during to-day, and facts that have transpired tend to the conclusion that the mystery will probably be cleared up. The detectives have been working assiduously iv the case since the finding of the child's body, and their labours have been so far successful that the supposed mother of the dead infant has been found and removed to the Hospital in a critical condition. In consequence of certain suspicious circumstances which were related, Detectives Doolan and Herbert this morning; proceeded to the Thistle Hotel and interviewed the cook, a young woman named Mary O'Connor, single, and about 24 years of age. Enquiries made from her and from other employees confirmed the suspicions previously entertained, and the woman being in a very feeble state of health, Dr. Tennont was called in. Ho advised the removal of Mary O'Connor to the Hospital. She however denies all knowledge of the occurrence, and no charge has yet been laid against her in connection with the discovery. .
