• Thames, this day. The friends of' Mr George Black, at one time manager of the Queen of Beauty mine, will be pleased to learn that he has taken charge of an extensive tin mine in Silverton, New South Wales. The reef, which is 6 feet wide, and very rich, has been traced on the surface for fully a mile, which is the extent of the claim. Mr Black has written to Mr R. Morrison, late of the Queen pf Beauty, inviting him to take charge of the pumps, and that gentleman will leave for Silverton on Wednesday next. . , '
A child about eighteen months old, belonging to Captain Rayner, was rather badly bruised yesterday afternoon by falling from the HapeCreek bridge—a distance of ten feet—and sustained concussion of the brain. ~«'/.... -
Mr George Hawkes, bootmaker, who has been iv business here almost since the opening of the gold field, died yesterday, aged 43.
