POLICE COURT—THIS DAY.
(Before Mr Stevenson, J.P.)
Drunkenness.—John Casey, Emily Driver, and Arthur Anderson were each lined 5s and costs, or in default 24 hours' hard labour, for having been drunk. Ellen Geary was fined 10s and costs, or 48 hours hard labour, for being drunk while in charge of a horse. William Brannagan was ordered to pay £5 and costs, or in default 14 days' hard labour, for being a habitual drunkard.
Obscene Language. — Mary Nesbifc pleaded guilty to having been drunk and disorderly in Kyber Pass Road, and also to having made use of obscene language in a public place.—She stated that she resided at Swanson with her husband, and had only come to town yesterday, and having met some friends, took a little drink.—Constable Dewes deposed to arresting the prisoner, who was creating a disturbance in Kyber Pass.—-The Justice remarked that he was passing at the time, and had seen the condition in which the woman was. He sentenced her to three months' hard labour.
