DUNEDIN MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

(BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN COIUIESPOXnENT.)

Dunedin, this day. TnE City Council elections attract little attention, as owing to the sinking fund windfall there is no fear. Dr. Hislop and H. F. Hardy will be returned unopposed for Leith and High Wards. In Belt Ward there will be a strong contest between the ex-Mayor, nominated by the Ratepayers' Association, and Mr Solomon, Chairman of the Benevolent Institution. In the South Ward Mr Fagan, who had made up his mind to retire, resents the dictation of the Association and asks for re-election, of which he is pretty sure, as a protest against the domineering spirit shown by that body, who have put forward a very weak candidate in the person of Mr Kimbell. I fancy that both the Associatiou caudi dates will be defeated.
