VELLAGE SETTLEMENTS.
Official .Report
(BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
Wellington, this day. A report from Mr J. E. March, Immigration officer of Christchurch, shows that twenty-four village homestead special settlements have been formed in Canterbury up to date, and that the total number o£ sections in the settlements is 313. Numerous applications are being made daily for land under the system, and Mr March considers it a matter for regret that) there is so little good land available for settlement in the district. In reply to questions put, all the settlers express the utmost satisfaction with their holdings.
