Parcel Post Arrangements for starting a parcel post in the colony are proceeding satisfactorily, and the system will shortly be inaugurated. Jubilee Menioria!. The police of Wellington city and country districts have subscribed Lll 4s (3d towards Her Majesty's Jubilee Memorial Fund. » ] Welling ton Special Settlement. Wellington Special Settlement Association hive obtnined from the Government an important concession in tho special settle ment regulations. The Miuister of Lands has dispensed with residence by settlers on tho rural sections. Members of this association will henceforth be able to comply with the : Act by residing in the. township atbached to the block, enjoying . comparatively comfortablo life whilst at tho same time tkey are preparing their rural sections for settlement by felling bush, burning, etc. Steam Fire Encine. The City Council have decided to contribute LIOO towards the cost of a steam fire engine. Cost of the Representation Commission. The salaries in connection with the Representation .Commission will amount to 900 guineas. The official members of the Commission will receive: 200 guineas each, and the non official members 100 guineas.
