APPLE FARM COMPANY-AD JOURNED MEETING.
The adjourned extraordinary meeting of the shareholders of the above Company for the purpose of receiving the report re number of unallotted shares taken up since last meeting, was held at 2.30 p.m. yesterday, Mr Thomas Peacock, M.H.R., presiding. There wore also present: Messrs A. Stewart, J. Billington, D. H. McKenzie, E. Cooper, Asher, G. P. Pierce, and J. H. ■Upton.
The Chairman announced that since last meeting the Secretary had personally canvassed the shareholders re the advisability of taking up unallotted.shares. • The result had not been encouraging. Out of shareholders representing 1.1,000 shaa-es he had only succeeded in inducing shareholders representing 4,5-22 to take up 2,201 shares out of 6,325 that required to. be placed. Even these only promised on the condition that the others would take up shares ]jro rata. Mr Maseficld was impressed with the conviction that it was impossible to carry on the present form. It would therefore be advisable to wind up tiie Company, and then those shareholders who wished to continue the enterprise could reform and raise the LI,OOO necessary for carrying on operations till 1889. He therefore moved that steps should be taken to convene an extraordinary meeting for the purpose of passing special resolutions, authorising the voluntary winding up of the Company. : •
The motion was seconded by Mr A, Stewart and carried.
It was also resolved to give three weeks notice of the above meeting. The Secratary explained that if all the calls were in, and the accounts all paid, the Company would have LI 35 to the good. . ,
The meeting then dissolved.
