Mr Tole is working assiduously to clear away a large quantity of business which has accumulated in the Justice Department, and expects to be able bo leave for Auckland about Friday week for the purpose of fighting Eden elecbion.

Mr Rolleston addressed a crowded meeting at Prebbleton to-night, and was warmly received. His speech was more especially devoted to an attempt to show that the reductions claimed by the present Government had no real existence. Mr O'Callaghan, who was most enthusiastically received, made a spirited reply, in which he charged Mr Rolleston with disingenuousness. At the close of the proceedings Mr Rolleston received a vote of thanks for his address. Thrpc cheers were given for MrO'Callaghan - Dunedin, Tuesday. A Financial Reform Society was formed this evening to secure a reduction of the salary and allowances of the future Governor, reduction of Ministerial saalries, and the curtailment of Legislative expenditure'; a reduction of the number of members of the House by at least one - foiirbh, and the Council nob to exceed one-half the number of the House ; Civil Service retrenchment, equalisation of revenue and expenditure, resistance to increased taxation, and decentralisation, f "; • The Hon. T. Dick addressed the electors of Dunedin East, and received a vote of thanks and confidence. Dunedin, this day. C. B. Campbell is.definitely out for Dunedin Central. Strong pressure is being brought to bear on Mr Hallenstein to come out for the same seat, and there is a strong probability of his consenting. . : • ■
