A concert will bo held this evening in the Mount Albert Public School commencing at 8 o'clock, for providing prizes for the school children. An attractive programme has been got up. The Exchange presents a quiet aspect, very little business being transacted. New Zealand Banks are wanted at Lls ; Colonial Banks, 41s; South British Insurance, 265: New Zealand Insurance, 645. A telegram was received from the Cambria this morning, reporting 301bs specimens. There are buyers of these shares at 3s 6d. Saxons are not asked for, though a very good report is to hand from the mine. Prince Imperials, sellers about 4s. Extensive preparations arc being-made at the City Hall, for the opening- of the skating rink to-morrow night. A large quantity of brand new skates, of. the best workmanship and finish have been imported direct from Sydney. The floor, in the opinion of experts is an excellent one for the purpose. The comfort and convenience of the fair sex are being studied especially. A commodious and well-appointed skate aud cloak room is in course of completion for them. Already the demand for skates from private purchasers to our local merchants has been such as to warrano the expectation of a splendid attendance tomorrow evening. Captain Edwin advises that bad weather is approaching. The glass will further rise and there will be much colder weather. On Monday evening last a social evening was spent by the employees of the New Zealand Sugar Company in honour of the Queen's Jubilee. The idea originated amongst the ladies, who formed a Committee and carried out the whole of the arrangements. Dancing commenced about 8 o'clock. An excellent supper was provided, and partaken of about midnight, after which dancing and singing filled up the time till about i> o'clock in the morning, when the party broke up. Special praise is due to Mrs Curtis, Mrs Boulton and Mrs and MissDunfoy for their exertions which resulted in so enjoyable a night's entertainment.
