The Minister for Justice recently directed that a medical examination should be made into the condition of bhe. prisoner E. B. Holt,, late manager of the Bank-of. New .Zealand. The examination has been made by the Government medical officer (Dr. McLaurin), who visited Holt'in'Darlinghursb. Dr. McLaurin rep Orbs that the prisoner is losing flesh rapidly, but Mr Clarke does not think the,, fact , stated would justify him in recommending a remission of any part of. the prisoner's sentence. .'.'_ " - ..-.'-
