On Thursday night the members of the Beresford-street Mutual Improvement Claes held their weekly meeting-, the subject for the evening being, a debate, "Ought Women to be. Admitted to the Learned Professions." The subject proved of-such interest that every member present spoke upon it. A vote being taken, it was carried on the affirmative side. . -,

In his lecture.on Monday, at the Young Men's Christian Association Eooms, on "America as it is," Major Dane will consider the subject on a , broad basis. This lecture is one which; the older pupils of our schools should hear, for they will learn that which will be of the greatest advantage to them.
