Distressing Scenes.

(reuter's telegram,)
Sydney, this day. The colliery explosion at Bulli occm-red yesterday afternoon, but no news was received till night.
The accounts to hand state that a sudden and terrific blast of hot air burst from the tunnel, and the force of tho explosion blocked its mouth.
A search party with difficulty penetrated to a distance of three quarters of a milo when they discovered six charred bodies of adults, and the disembowelled remains of a boy,
Efforts are being made to get at the others entombed, who are said said to number seventy, but their rescue is believed
to be hopeless,
Many of the search party have beon rendered unconscious by the foul air. A profound sensation has been caused throughout the district, and the scenes of anguish at the tunnel movth, where the wives and children of the entombed men have congregated, are indescribable The mine has been Iying[idle for some time, owing to a strike, but work was lately resumed, and every precaution had been taken to ensure safety.
