.. At the inquest hold here yesterday before ti. A. Stratford, Esq., ooroner, touching the late fire which burnt down Mr Earl's premises near Waitekauri, two witnesses wero examined, but nothing was elicited to show how it originated. After a short deliberation the jury returned a verdict of Orson against some person or persons unknown.

F. Willmott was today fined 40s and costs for making a false declaration under the Registration of Electors Act,
Timaru, this day. Actfou Against the Customs. The R.M. today gave judgment for plaintiff in re Inns v. Moore, £9, price of beer supplied; and afterwards seized by the Customs. The defendant refused to receive the beer on release by the Customs, and plaintiff now sued successfully.
Tlie Tiiuaru GhostAn individual.earned Kunningham was charged to-day with the larceny of a portion of a flute. The charge was brought as the only means of getting at the man who is believed to Jj'e the Timaru Ghost. Tho Case broke down. The Magistrate; in dismissing it, spoke very severoly of the dastardly conduct involved in frightening children, and expressed the opinion that flogging was the proper puriishmbnt.
