ARATAPU NEWS.
At a meeting of employees held on Tueg. day, the manager announced that the mills were to be closed at the end of the present month. Those employed at the moulding and planing machines have received a week's notice ; the rest will be discharged at the end of the month. No hopes of work being resumed arc held out. Many old hands of several years' standing are preparing to depart, The Mill Hands' Accident Relief Society have decided to divide the funds, amounting to nearly £70, between the members.
Mr R. J. O'Sullivan is in this district holding the yearly examinations of the schools on the river.
