WAR PREPARATIONS IN FRANCE.
French Relations with England,

Paris, October 17,
The French press, in replying to recont articles of the leading English newspapers on the European situation, deny that France is seeking war, and intriguing against England. They state that the tendency of the French Government is towards peace, and that armaments are being attended to merely as defensive measures. The newspaper "Lo Temps" in an articlo to-day, deplores the rivalry and jealousy of the English press, and urges journals of eerious tone to strivo to improve the relations between England and France.
