Titf, ordinary meeting was held on Monday. Present: Tho Mayor 'Mr M. Niccol'. presiding, and Councillors Alison. Bartley, Wilcox, Burgess, Brown, Cameron, Mays, and Duder,
COK->o___sc__—The Major, in opening proceeding., r'-ferred in Uruis of regret to the decease of Mr W. J. Hurst. M.H B. for Waitemata, and moved, "That a Inter ofcrndol nee be sert to Mrs Hurst." Mr Hurst bad enjoyed the respe >t of thoinh .bi'ant i of the district,and he thought that Mrs Hurst would have the sympathy of all in her bereivcmcnt. — Mr Philcox seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously.
Cohkesi'Onde CE was dealt wiih as 'oliows : —Bettor from Messrs Dudor, urgiug an early settlement of the dedication of streets difficulty : Referred to the Financ and Le.ai Committee — From Mr T. K. Duratce, requesting that his name be inserted on the roll in place of Captain Clark's : Hcterrerl to -finance Committee.

Cemetery. — The Finance Committee recommendi d, re closing of present cemetery, that in view ot the unsatisfactory position ol ihe cemetery reserve, application bo made to the Commissioner of Auckland under clause 33 Muniolpi] Corporations Act, 1876, to hold aii inquiry and make an award as to the accouut between the Borough Council and iho County Council. Tho recommendatirn was adopted. Water Supply.—On ihe recommendation or tho Waterworks, ConimittO", it was agreed that tho Eoeit cer be authorised to obtainan ongine in order to le-*t any of Ihe wells of tho district, o_.mmeii_.og with the one under the Willows in Victoria Koad. at an expense not exceeding, say £50, with the view of n.tiiuatirg the pos.'ibility of obtaii ing a water autJuly for tnedialrioi from the same, the Engineer to report to the Couno>l from time to time a 9 to tbe progress in the matter.
Drainage — The Committee recommenced, and it weß agree., thit the En.ln.eer be J_Btrnct.dto prepare a report ano"approximate estir_i_,ta of coat for an efhoiant Bystem of drainage through the morf thickly populated parts of the district, stating the sizes of the pipes proposed to be used, aud the names of the streets to bo drained.
_ Foreshore.—Tne Mayor gave notioe of his intention to move at the next meeting, "That the Finance and Legal Committee prepare a petition under clause of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1876. requesting the Governor by proclamation to include in this Borough the foreshore t) low-water mark, and all buildings erepted on piles, etc., which should reasonably bo Included in the Borough.
