PARNELL BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The fortnightly mooting of the Borough Council was held on Monday night Present: His Worshipthe Mayor(Mr J. Winks), in the chair; Messrs McConnell, Whitley, MeCobe, Lyell, Dewes, Marriott, Savage. Some discussion ensued as to the owners of property in Judge's Bay Road being liable to contribute towards paying for the work. It was finally carried, on the motion of Cr ©ewea, " That the draining of Judge's Bay Road bo proceeded with j owners of property benefited by the construction of drain to contribute £50 towards the oost of the work." lie tho Hobson Bay drain, it was reßolved " That tenders be called for the work," which was estimated to' cost £30. The question of cutting down the Manukau Road was deferred till next meeting. St. Wright reported a caee of scarlet fever. Tbe Street-* Committee reported on a number of works that required carrying out. Mr a. Brett's application that a drain recently consti-ueted be carrkd on to beach, so as not to damage his property, was refused. The Foreman of Works suggested, on his report, that a reward be offered to anyone giving information of the bursting of a water main in the borough. It was settled to offer a reward of ss. The report also recommended the reduction of tho license feo oh garden boee -. The consideration of this was deferred. The Inspector of Nuisances was directed to effect the neoeesary repairs in connection with Tararaa Te'rraee drainage.
