(Before Bis Honor Mr Justice Gillies ) Tiih September Civil Sessions of the Supremo Court weio opened at 10 o'clock this morning. Only three causes were eet down upon the Hat, and of these one was determined in the plaintiffs favour by default of appearance, another was settled and tho third was discontinued. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) v. David Anderson.— Claim, £320 lOd, for overdue intorest.—Mr C. E. Button (instructed by__ Messrs Jackson and Russell) appeared for tho plaintiff Company. Ho said that tho solicitor for tho othor Bide- (for which there was no appoaranco) had been anxiouß to withdraw and file a confession, but ho had not been able to communicate with his client. The claim was practically admitted, and the dofonce amounted to nothing. Tho deed of incorporation having boen put in, His Honor gave judgment for £320 0s lOd, with costs onthe middle scale. Thomas Edward Fitzgirald v. John Carroll Seccomhe —Claim, £100, damagos for trespass.—Mr C. E, Button (instructed by Messrs Jackson and Russell) appeared for tho plaintiff, and stated that his client had agrood to take tho money out of Court. The notion, therefore, was settled.

The Accident Indemnity Co. (Limited) v. P. A. Edmist.in.—Claim, £500, damagos for slander.—This action had been discontinued, and consequently did not come before the Court.
