(BY TELEBBAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT). Masterton, this day. The Sydnoy team had beautiful weather on their journey to Masterton. The game this morning was well attended. The ground was wet in placos. At the kickroff. tlie Wairarapa mon rushed up, and looked liko Bcoring, Whatman got over the line, but dropped the bal', J. Perry had the misfortune to break a small bone of his log when close to the lino • and had ,to be carried off the field. Caird allowed Cliffe to .tako his . placo. Mac Arthur madq two or three oxcellont rune, and working tho ball to tho other end, Roid secured it, and passing all the backs, grounded urider the gaol. He took the kick himaelf, biit missed an easy chance of a goal. No other scoring took placo during tho first space! Qn resuming, the Wairarapa men, scrummaging well, worked their way into Sydney quarters. Honnslow passing neatly to Percy, the latter gave Banniber a chance which that smart Httlo lad turned into a try. E. tjdy kicked a goal from tho placo. After this' the reds played Up hard, bnt the game wont against them until McAithur, after a brilliant run, secured the ball, ahd scored a splendid goal from a flying kick, in this spell, Webster another local man, got hurt, and had to retire. Sydney won by six points to five. Tho Wairarapa men played splendidly forward, and wero too good for the visitors in that department. The tealn return to Wellington at 3 o'clock this afternoon.
