WELLINGTON NOTES.
(by telegraph—own cobhebpondent.) Claims of Old Soldiers. Wellington, this day.—The Commission to inquire into the clnitna of old soldiers will sit as follows :—Wanganui t September 20th and 21st; Now Plymouth, September 23rd and 24th ; Auckland, Soptembor 28th, 29th and 30th; Tbamo?, October 4th and sth; Napier, on 11th and 12tb> Fourteen days' notice of sitting will be given byadvertisement, and claims will have to bo sent in writing to the post-office of each town before the Commissioners arrive. Mr Kenny has not yet accepted a position in the commission. A definite answer is expected to-morrow, and if not received it is understood that the Government have another gentleman in view who will act. The Engineer-in-Chief left to-day to inspect the damage done to Oamaru Breakwater in the late gales.
