Advice as to Diet.
As to diet we all eat too much. Our food' ii too concentrated ; and I think with Dr.. Squib that Americana would have less dyspepsia if they took more soup and other fluids, except ice water, with their meals, as the Germans end French do. It is a goooi aign to find oatmeal on most breakfast tables, 'and it is now served aa a matter of couree at all hotels, as I have noticed while travelling, except in the South, where hominy is substituted. Dairies are fast multiplying, and milk bus become a fashionable drink. I ris? at 7 o'clock, and after 6, light breakfast of oatmeal, egga in some form or fish, and a cup of tea, walk to my office, which take 3 three quarters of an hour including ten minutes of delight and invigoratioa on the Brooklyn bridge, with its gloriouß view of the harbour and its surroundings. This is far better than spoiling one's eyesight in a railway car, or clinging to a greasy strap in a fetid, crowded elevated train.
