Addressing tho mon subsequently, ho expressed gratification at the large muster, and said he was pleased to say that (here were about 400 present. Ho regretted that thero was so little space availablo for exercising the battalion, and he did not sco how they could remedy it, because outdoor parades were difficult to obtain at this season of the year. Ho drew the attention of the new companies to the Victorias, City Guards, and Hobson, who. were efficient and soldierlike, and recommended them to be attentive to their drill, and emulate the example of these older companies. Preceded by the Garrison Band, the companies had a march-out along Princos - street, down Shortlandstreet, and up Queen-street, returning to the Drill-shed, where they were dismissed.
