SOCIAL GATHERING.
The members of the Waitemata Minstrels, having resolved to disband for a time, entertained their immediate friends last evening with an invitation " social " in the Foresters' Hall, Karangahapo Road. There wore fourteen dances on the programme, and theso wore interspersed with songs, rendered by Miss A. Hargrove and Messrs R, W. Scoats and T. Leodham, whilo the Minstrels also sang a song and chorui, the nolo being tuken by Mr W. George. During tho evening a moet pleasant ceremony was performed, Mr F. Bnrtloy, on behalf nf the members, presenting Mr T. Loedham with » handsome golel albert as a recognition of his services towards tho troupe, and which the recipient duly acknowledged. Quite a feature of tho gathering was tho superb . tylu in which tho refreshment-room was laid out, the lower ante-room being turned by green foliago anel Chineso lanterns into quite a fairy bower. Tho dance music in the first portion of the evening was provided by several members of tho troupe, nnd in the lattor part by Messrs Davis nnd Reed. The gathering altogether was a complete success, and reflected tho greatest creelit on the members generally.
