THE MACGREGOR.
The _.s. Glonolg returned from Kawau this morning early with Captain Macgregor and others who have been employed in connec tion with tho lloatingof the s.s. Macgregor. Wo learn that the hulk Gazelle, which had lillod with water on Saturday, was pumped dry on Sunday night. Thon several attempts were made to got the MacGregor further ashore, but with a small measure of success. An effort was made last night to cast her over on tho opposite side to that on which sho now lies, in order to givo the diver access to a hole caused by the rocks, but this had to be abandoned, Tbe Macgregor now lies with her bow towards tho shore. At high tide her forward ond is about a foot above water, while her stern is submerged. As tho tides were "taking off," Captain Macgregor decided to postpono furthor operations for a fortnight, whon advantage will bo taken of the spring tides. Ho loft Mr Blackwell in charge, nnd returned to Auckland in the Glonolg. ■
