Impure Water.
We havo roceived from o correspondent a phial of city water drawn from his tap this morningl. It rather shakos our faith in tho boasted purity of tho Corporation supply. Tho water is pregnant with life, which roquires no microscopo to discover. Our correspondent says: —"I drow _ off basin aftov basin, and found quantities of these queer fish in every ono. I put abnut a dozen into a tablespoon with wator to view through a lens, and in live minutes there were about 200 eggs in tho bottom, and a few minutos more these began to hatch out as I hold the spoon in the sunlight." The " queer fish " contained in the sample forwarded are water-lice —very disgusting, though probably harmless. The purity of tho water as it gushes from tho scoria at tho Western Springs is beyond question ; its pollutions are ontiroly duo to tho condition of the rosorvoirs, and theso should bo ovorhaulod by tho Corporation without delay, if they place any value on tho health of tho citizens.
