BURGLARY IN THE NORTH.

MoNGONtri, this day. A hakim: attempt at housebroaking occurred early on Friday morning. About half-past two in tho morning Mr Houston was roused by tho cries of his children that some one was coming through the window into their room. Mr Houston jumped up and ran into the children s room, when the would-be burglar made off. Ho pursued him down to the beach and across the harbour and along the beach, though only in his nightdress, but failed to catch him. It ao happened that the police were away in search of tho same party for another burglary near Wliangaroa. They caught him the rakne day at the.native settlement, and ho is now in durance vile awaiting hie trial. There are several charges against him of robbing and housebreaking.
