ANNUAL LICENSING ELECTIONS.
Tho Temperance Candidates Roturncd Unopposed. To-day was the day fixed by Mr Henry Ridings, Returning Officer for the municipal licensing divisions, for the reception of the nomination of candidates for Licensing Committees for the following districts :—Auckland East, Auckland North' Auckland South, Karangabape, Ponsonby, and Graf ton. The hour fixed for the receipt of the nomination papers wasnoon, and some little surprise was expressed whon it becime known that the Licensed Victuallers had pormitted the Temperance party to carry the election without a contest, no candidates being nominated in the publicans' interest. The following gentlemen being tho only candidates nominated, wore declared duly electod :— Auckland East.—Messrs Jno. Buchanan, J. Edson, R. Fry, T. B. Hill, and J. Newman. Auckland South.—Messrs J. Caradue, J. W. Carr, D. Goldie, C. G. Hill, and J. Knott. Auckand North.—Messrs F. G. Ewington, R. Neal, G. W. Owen, Joshua Robinson, and G. Winstono. Karaxcaiiape.—Messrs J. C. Wilkes, D. Goldio, H. Hirst, J. Morrison, and Enoc Wood. Gbafton. —G. Holdship, G. P. Pierce, W. Hunt, C. J. Stono, and F. A. White, Ponhonby.—J. Coupland, W. McKinstry, J. Gittos, Ai O Knight, and G. Vf. Owen. The nominations of the candidates for Parnell Licensing Committee takes place tomorrow.
