ONEHUNGA RACING CLUB SPRING MEETING.

The Onehunga SpriDg Meeting on Saturday last passed off most successfully, the attendance being the largest that has yet been seen on the course. The new grand stand was largely patronised, and amongst those present was the Hon. 6. M. O'Rorke, President of the Club. The Onehunga Brass Band was present, and helped to wile away the intervals between the races. The following are the results of the different events: — Spiiino Hurdle Rape of 40 soys., 1 mile and three-quarters. Over 8 flights of hurdles. Ralstead; Chandler (list 51bs), Rae; Topthorn (lOst 21bs), Frewin; Claude (lOst), H. Taylor ; Grey Momus (9st 121bs), Fan-ell; Mignonette (9st 51ba), McClusky ; Lan-ikin (9st 41bs), J. Laing; Fisherboy (9st), Heaton. Betting :sto 2 ogst Azim, 4to 1 agst Lone Hand, 5 to 1 aget Claude and Topthorn, 7to 1 Evening Star. This was a good contest throughout, Azim winning rather easily by a length. A protest was lodged by the ownor of Alfred against Evening Star being placed second, on tho ground that he ran inside a post, and after hearing evidence thestowards sustained the protest. The Novel Race, of 20sovs, 1 mile, was won by Across the Gras?, ridden by Burns, Barney being the only other starter. Totalisator dividend, 15?.

Mignonette was the first to move, followed by Fishgirl, the rest in a cluster, and in this order the stand was passed. At the back of the course Kalo went up into first place, Rewi second, and Fishgirl third, the stand being passed the second time in this order. After going about quarter of a mile further, Dressmaker was taken-into third position, and challenged the leaders. She overhauled Fishgirl as thoy were entering the straight, but, despite all McClusky's efforts, he was unable to get up to Kalo, who won by a clear length. Time, 2minß.s2secs.
