To the Editor: Sir,—Permit me to protest against the presumption of the Onehunga Racing Committee in daring to put up to auction the gates of a public reserve over which they have no manner of control. The reserve in question, in Onehunga, comprising, some forty acres, has been granted to the public as a, free recreation ground and also for cemetery "purposes, and any person attempting to levy a fee on any individual for going on the ground should be prosecuted by the police for endeavouring to obtain money by false, pretences. The authority for charging an entrance fee is precisely similar to what it would be to make a charge for going into the Auckland Domain.or the Albeit Park.—Yours, etc BIJBIJESS.
