Cambuiiuie, this day.— At the R.M. Court on Saturday, the owner of the racehorse Robert tho Devil sued Iho stewards of the Pinko Turf Club for £10, the said horse having won tho Consolation Handicap at tho last meeting of tho Club. It appears that the Club has become impecunious, and though admitting the debt, was unable to pay. His Worship decided that the stewards were not the proper party to sue ; the defendant should have proceeded against the Secretary. Between costs, etc., the plaintiff loses £20 instead of winning 110. The Rencli reserved their decision in the caso of the three natives who cut down Mr Walker's bridge at Mangapiko.

DOSBDIN. this day.—ln tho Supreme Court, Henry Koran, aged 14, pleaded guilty to larceny from a store, and was committed to the Industrial School. In the case of Peter Dunbar, charged with receiving the stolen goods, .Mr Stout, for the defence, submitted that the evidence showed prisoner to be the principal, and not an accessory. His Honor agreed, ami directed his acquittal. A fresh indictment wili probably be laid against prisoner.

In Wairarapa district lately, an incident occurred showing tho dunger of importing such animals as stoats, ferrets, and weasels. The child of a shepheul was found dead with a wound in its throat which it is believed was inflicted by a ferret, one of these animals having been seen in the hut where the infant was asleep.
