(Received July 11th—12.:10 p.m.) The Lords and the Franchise.
London, July 10.—Mi- Gladstone, in the House of Commons to-day, will make a statement as to the intentions of the Government in view of the rejection of the Franchise Bill by tho Houso of Lords. Tho belief is generally current, and hourly boing strengthened, that the Government havo decided to introduco the measure afrosh at a special session to bo held in autumn.
Austrrlian Crlokcters at Manchester.
Telegrams from Manchester timed 3 p.m. to-day, announce that up to that hour, owing to hoavy rain, play had not begun in tno cricket match—Australia versus All England, A change has boon mado in tho constitution by the English toam—A. P. Lucas Barlow, and Shrewsbury, tlio place of Lord, Harris, Crossland, and Briggs. Tho other eight players chosen remain in tho team, viz. : W. G. Grace, Hornsby, Steele, O'Biion, Barnes, Peate, Pilling, and Ulyett.
Arrived : Steamship Iberia, from Mcl bourne, May 30th. Owing to tho continued inclemency of the weather tho Manchester cricket match has been postponed until to-morrow.
Mr Gladstone and the Roform Bill.
At tho meeting of tho members of the Liberal party today, Mr Gladstone announced that tho present session would end shortly, and Parliament would bo reassembled in Octobor for the pur[K>so of again passing the Franchiso Bill through tho Houso of Commons,, and submitting it to tho House of Lord..
