OUTRAGES AT MANGARE.
Vindictive or revengeful feelings havo led somo residents of Mnngaro to oxtremo measures in their desire to retaliate upon Mr George Macrae, o" Mangare, for a real or fancied wrong. Rather moro than a week ago, ho found that one of his bay colts, a valuable animal, had died from strangulation, undoubtedly the act of somo malicious person. Another bay colt hod its belly ripped up on tho following night, and is now under the treatment of Mr Kioloch, veterinary surgeon. This outrage waß on Saturday last followed by another of an equally cowardly and vindictive character, a valuable throe-year-ohl grey filly being found dead with a bullothole through its temple. Tho whole ot the circumstances have been reported to the police, and a reward of £50 offered for _uo!i information as will lead to the conviction of tho offendor, but without success. Mr Macrae attributes these outrages to the fact that on the occasion ol tho recent fatal accident at the gravel pits, he drew the attention of Sergeant Greonc to the dangerous state of the pit. It is said that in con -quence of this lie has incurred the illwill of tlio neighbours.
