Lon-don, March B,—The " St. James's Gazette" states that the British Government intend to prohibit tho Mesßageries Maritimes Company from despatching their steamers to Australian ports unless the Recidivistes Bill is abandoned by the French authorities. The "Republique Frangais " ridicules the threatened prohibition against tho Messageries steamers visiting Australia, " Lo Pays," another jou.rna.l puhlished in Parjs, discusses the matter in a similar strain, and1 says that the agitation is an amusing excuse on the part of England for annexation of the l^ew Hebrides on hor own account,
