Both batsmen * batted with greater freedom than before r lunch, and tho score increased rapidly, but f many runs were saved by the splendid fielding of the Tasmanians, Harris particularly distinguishing himself in this respect. After a time Millton resumed stonewalling, , but Watson continued to hit freely all round. Sovoral changes of bowling were tried without effect, and whon the ecore had reached 5i Millton was bowled by Kendall—s4—2—9. Cotterill went in at v four o'clock, when tho ecore was 04. Just as ho seemed .set he snicked ono from Mansfield into the wicket-keeper's hands.' Dudnoy then joined Wateon, and under this partnership the score reached 111. : Wilding, Asliby, Pocock, and Barnes, were disposed of for small scores, and when time was called Watson and Fowko wero at the I wickets, tho former having run up the good score of 79 not out. At the cricket match to-day the two not outs went in, and tho scoring was rapid until Watson, stepping out to a slow, was stumped. Score 185, of which Watson - claimed 82. Chapman joined Forke, ani tho latter a wicket fell for 24, the Canterbury innings closing 19 behind their opponents. The Tasmanians sent Harris and Gate--7S o,. tho wickets, the former made four • : off Wilding, then Pocock, in his first pvor, clean bowled both Gatehouse and Hale.. * Butler went in and scored two and a single ?,v,v ococki and then w«« bowled V Wilding—three wickets for 10.
