Next Saturday evening the opening will I take place in Abbott's* Opera House of a season of comic opera by the above-named company, under the guidauce of Messrs : Williamson, Garner, and Musgrove. This promises to be, if not the best operatic troupo that lias ever performed in New Zealand, at least in the front rank of excellence. The porformers number sixty "" - person?, besides orchestra and auxiliaries, '= and every attention being given to scenery, I costuming, and appointments, the various pieces will be presented on a scale of splendour and completeness seldom at- >• tempted on the colonial stage. Audran's 1 famous opera "La Masootte" (The i \ Luck-Bringer) is to be produced on the opening night, and from the "rtra" i WUion this had in Australia there U erenr^, -WKSpgb't of Yos'nbWa'gtf.Ytfbiage afSeSoWi"^ for a.week or two. "Olivette," by the same composer, is announced to follow, after which " LaFille dv Tambour Major," I '• Le-< Cloches de Corneville," and other I operas will bo presented. The leading artistes of tho Company comprise Miss 9 Nellie Stewart, Miss Ida Osborne, Miss ■ Maggie Stewart, Miss Lillie Forde. I Mr \V. H. Woodfield, Mr Howard Vernon, Mr Edwin Kelly, Mr John-F. Forde, MrT. I Gruudy, and others of marked talent. The ■* orchestra is to be under the direction of Mr IB W. H. Harrison, Mr J. Wallace is to be 1 stage manager, and the whole will-be under | > the personal supervision of Mr George Mua- | grove.
