BOARD OF EDUCATION.

The Board mot this afternoon, Messrs Laishloy (in the chair), Bnckland, Cooper, Hobbs, McKenzie, Luke, Goldie, and Moss, being the members present.— Tlio Chairnian'a report stated inter (diet that Mies Mflcky had been removed from Training College to Girls' High School, that teacher has been instructed to open school in new building at Ararimu, that a lease of the Board's offices had been secured for a further period of two years, that the scholarships held by Komptnorne(open)and E. Jenkins (district), had been vacated by resignation ; application of Girls' High School for holiday on the occasion of Grammar School sports declined ; leave of absence granted to Mrs Fisher, Waipu, and Miss Hamilton, Waiotalii.— The Chairman reported the passing of the resolutions concerning scholarships at the recent meeting of the Grammar School Board,—Mr Cooper asked the Chairman if it was true that Mr Whitaker had advised that under tho Grammar School Trust scholarships were limited to students of the Grammar School, and whether the Hon. Mr Dick had offered to introduce an act meeting the difficulty, which offer had been refused by the Board.—The Chairman said Mr Whitaker had so advised, but he knew nothing of Mr Dick's offer.—At the request of Mr Cooper, the Secretary was instructed to communi' cate with the Board of Governors.

Tesders.—Tenders were opened as follow : — School Furniture : Mackle, Ponsonby (accepted), Marflitt, Jones, Meachem, (Thames), Chappel (Thames).—Gymnastic Apparatus: Ohappel (Thames), N.Z. Timber Co., and Dawson. —The first two tenders wore accepted for diflierent articles. Miscellaneous, FitTincis, Ac— Tenders : —Stationery :No tenders. Deferred for report of Inspector.—Printing: Wilsons and Horton (accepted), 11. Brett, Sibbin and Brown, William Atkin.— Advertising : No tender. Deferred for report—Mr Langbridge offered to act as agent for advertisements.—Coal and Firewood : Hammond and Byron (accepted), Duder (informal). — Scoria Ash : William Morlcy (accepted), Craig (informal).
