ALARMING SERIES OF FIRES.

Incendiarism Suspected.

Invercargill, this day. A stack of oaten hay and a chnffcutter have been destroyed by fire on Mclntyre and Jackson's farm, Wyndham Valley. Loss, £100. No insurance.

A threshing mill belong to Mr Sheehan, near Riversdale, has been burned. It was insured for £300. Incendiarism is suspected. The South Invercargill Town Hall was burned down last night. When tho fire was first observed it had obtained too great a hold to admit of anything being done. It was insured for £150 in the Royal Insurance Company. The safe was afterwards found unlocked among the ruins, and it is believed that nearly all the Corporation records for the last seven years have beeu lost, together with the valuation roll and rate boolcs. Rumours of incendiarism are afloat, and the police are inquiring into tho circumstances.
