A Warning to France.
The " Times" this morning, referring ta tho action of France in relation to the New Hebrides, warns tho French Govern* ment to avoid a repetition of the outrages perpotrated by Admiral Pierre at Tamatave, The Hanlan-Laycock SouUlns Match. Edward Hanlan, of Toronto, champion sculler of tho world, is impatiently awaiting a reply to his challenge to Elias Laycock of Sydney, offering to row him for £2,00(1 on the Thames. Tho pretensions of Laycock to compete with Hanlan are generally ridiculed in England.
