FIRE AT ONEHUNGA.

i A fire broke out between the hours ol 11 and 12 last night iv a live-roomed cottage in (Jucen-strcet, Onehunga, owned anil occupied by Captain Bradley and family. The building was burned to the ground in leßs than half-an-hour from the time tho lire broke out. Captaiu Bradley iv reluming home, accompanied by Mr Sheldrick, who lives in tho next houso, was the first to observe tho lire, and at once rushed to the building in tirnc to get Mrs Bradley and the children rescued, as no time was lef to save any effects. Sergeant Greene anil a few of the neighbours reached the scene of the fire in good time, but nothing could be done to save the building. The lire, it is thought, must have originated in the locality of the kitchen fireplace. The honse was itisured in the South British for £250, and tbo furniture iv tljc Standard for £100. As usual, the wattt of a fire-bell in Onehunga prevented many persons in the vicinity ot the fire from knowiug the danger in which their dwellings stood from sparks.
