ACCIDENT TO STEAMER WAKATU.

WELLINGTON this day. Tin-: steamer Wakatu which arrivod Irom Whangouui this morning, struck Tom's rock, near Tcrawhiti, at 7.30 a.m. The second mato was iv charge. The vessel is making water fast, it being supposed that one of her plates is split. Tho pumps are hard at work, and after discharging alio will go on the slip. A preliminary enquiry will be held to-morrow.
