Christinas was chiefly celebrated here by all men having a holiday. Many of tbo tents were decorated and at night illuminated, which presented a very pleasing effect. Tho men behaved themselves well, and not a single case of insubordination or drunkenness has been reported.
Two hundred men went out yesterday and destroyed about 250 acres of Maori crops. About the same number of men have gone out again this morning. It is stated here that the Government have confiscated 60,000 acres of land as indemnity for the cost of the recent demonstration.
