HARBOUR BOARD.
A SPECIAL meeting of the Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon, Mr Compton presiding, with a good attendance of mem* bers.
DEKDOING.—The Engineer was authorised to employ the steamer Piako at £3 per week, for dredging purposes. Pilot Service Dispute.—Before this matter came up for consideration Mr Compton found it necessary to retire because of illness. The chair was filled by Mr J. M. Clark. Evidence was given by:—Wm. Burgess, chief pilot; J. j. Burgess, chief harbour-master; C. Sainty, pilot; W. Jenkins, Coxswain; W. Gregg and G. Taylor, boatmen. After due consideration the following resolution was agreed to :— " That this Board is of opinion that the coxswain ( W. Jenkins) should be reprimanded for his conduct on Nov. 9, and instructed to treat his superior officers with proper respect in future." This concluded the business.
