TE AROHA GOLDFIELDS.

(By: telegraph, from grahamstown.)

This day. At a meeting ol shareholders in the Waikato Claim lying due North of the Bonanza at Te Aroha it was decided to form a company, and Captain Fraser was appointed legal manager. ANOTHER HUSH. The " Advertiser's" Te Aroha correspondent says ;—" A rush has taken jlace in the locality of Catran Bros., and a party pegged out a five-acre claim situated |in the ranges on a branch of the Omahu Creek, about two miles north-west of the township have taken up 600 feet of the lode, which is cropping ap on the surface, and is three feet thick The stone is of composite character, coutaining crysUlised quartz, sandstone, and other hard mineral substances, besides an excellent show of gold indicating mineral. The reef was shown to the Catran Bro?. a year ago by Hicholl, sen. (i of Ohineniuii, but they"did not care about working on it until the opening of the field. A number of claims adjoining Cawan's were pegged out this morning, find the rush has created some excitement. 1 visited claims south of the Prospectors' Spur, aud found that sections have bean pegged out, and are being legitimately worked for, at least, a mile from that point. The first claim met with after leaving the Aroha No. 1 South, was the United, comprising an area of five acres, of which Mr Jas. Gribble is manager. The tunnel started by that gentleman prior to the opening of tho field haa been discontinued, and another level is being opened up some thirty feet lower down the spur. Judging from its size, and the systematic manner in which it is beiDg tiiubored up, the. manager has evidently a double object in view, viz., that of thoroughly prospecting his , own ground, and providing a main level for all tho claims in the immediate neighbourhood, including Te Aroha, JNos. 1 and 2, andinallprobabilitytheprospectors. Besides the work of pushit)g|on the main tunnel there are two | prospecting drives in tull swing, one of which is being driven to intersect a lode which crops out about twenty-five feet further up the hill, and which has a kindly appearance. Owing to the absence of Mr Gribble I was unable to ascertain whether it was auriferous or not. The other drive is being driven towards [Southwestern boundary, with a view of testing the ground in that direction. Tho main reef, which was cut in a trench by Mr Gribble about three weeks ago, is said to be highly auriferous^ and will be intersected in tho main level in 20 feet more driving. Although it is somewhat broken where exposed at present, it will no douht be found better dclined in the lower levels. _____^________,
