ORDINARY MEETING.

The ordinary meeting of the Council was then held, Messrs Lamb, Allison, and Sinclair also being present.—Tho minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Henderson's Mill.—Letter received from the Chairman ot the Henderson's Mill Road Board asking why no reply had been forwarded to a request for assistance towards the road loading towards the western part of the district, and where the railway station was intended to bs laid out. —It was agreed that the matter be deferred for the present. MUREYTAI. —Petition received from residents in tho Murewai and Northern portion of Waitakarei West districts, drawing attention to the fact that the bridge on the main road between Russel's Bridge and the North Road had fallen in.—Agreed that the bridge be re-erected under the supervision of the engineer. Devonport.—Letter from the Chairmaa of the Devonport District Board stating that the breastwork recommended by the engineer for th 9 protection of the Beach Road was considered too costly, and asking that the amount be expended in a twelve-inch drain in Victoria Road from its junction with Clarence Road to the beach.—Tho application was referred to the engineer. Kaukapakapa Ro id.—Letter from Mr Robert Sinclair in reference to the No. 4 contract of the Kaukapakapa-Hclensville Road, stating that the road would cut through Mr Stewart's paddock, and recommending a deviation in the line of road, which would make a great difference in the arrangement of his paddocks.—Councillor Sinclair moved that the eneineer proceed to the place in question, and confer with Mr S tew» rt. —Agreed 1;o. Hodsonvillk. -A letter from Mr B. O. Clark, asking that the proposed joad be surveyed at once, was referred to the Chief Surveyor. JJridge at Hklknsvtlle. —Letter from the Public Works Oflice, stating that the Government had not funds at their disposal to erect a bridge over tho Kaipara River near Helensville.

Lake Contract:.—Letter from W. McSparrow, stating that his tender for Ho. 1 contract at the Lake was too low, and he would therefore withdraw from hi? contract. The deposit was stated to be £4.. —It was agreed that the next lowest tenderer be offered to Messrs Allison. Payment of Valuer.—A claim was received by Mr Berry for payment for services as valuer and expenses in 1877.—The matter was deferred until next meeting of the Council.

TiTiRANOI.—Mr Allwrighfc gave an estimate for repairs required to road between Bishop's gate and Bonnor's Bridge, Titlrangi, and it was agreed that tenders be invited for the work.

Waitakeri Wbsto—Letter from Waitakeri West Board asking that the Council's Engineer be instructed to inspoct the various works now in progress in this district, and report thereon. It was decided that the Board should be requested to scud in a list of works which they consider necessary. Waikomiti.— Letter from the Waikomiti Board recommending that the £100 allocated to this Board be expended in metalling and forming tho approaches to tho eight bridges on the Waixomiti Road.— The Eaginecr was instructed to report to the Finance Committee on the matter, and that they be empowered to call for tenders.

WiIANGAPAROA.—Letter from the Board stating that it wos intended to expend tho £100 subsidy on four places on tho Whangaparoa main road.—The request to have the money thus applied was acceded <o. PUKEATUA.—Letter received asking that culverts be repaired on the road from Wainui to Kiverhead. The cost was estimated at £20. A letter from the Pukoatua Boad Board was read, asking tbat the £100 be expended on the coach road between lot 191 and Casey's gate.— The lirst-named letter was referred to the District Board, and the consideration of the other was deferred in the meantime. Bight of Way.—Letler received from Mr Walsh stating that he had never given or promised to give any land for a right of way, and announcing that he did not intend to do so unless fair compensation was allowed him. Taupaki Eoad.—Letter from F. J. Cottle asking that certain repairs ou the Taupaki Eoad be effected.—On the motion of Mr Lamb, it was agreed that tenders be colled for the culverts only.—A. motion by MrDilworth that the whole of the work be done was negatived, all the other members present voting against it. WAITAKAKRI East.—The Waitakarei District Board's correspondence was further postponed until next meeting. Baucis Point Eoad.—Letter from settlers asking that the road from Bruce's Point to Dowden's Pottery bo made.— Keferred to the Surveyor. Impounding |Act.—lt was agreed that ihe Impounding Act be brought injo opera« turn in the county.

KaUkapAlUfA Contract.—The acceptance of the tender for No 4 contract of tho Kaukapakapa Road was deferred until next hleeting. Whabf Atf WADS.—Mr Bond moved that a wharf bo erected at the WadrJ. The Cost would be £15 or £20.—1t was stated that there was a wharf on the other side of the stream.—The resolution was put to the tiieeting and lost by 4 to 3. The mooting thdu terminated.
