An instance of honesty has come under our notice. Mr Thorn, of the Illusionists, in his hurry to catch the steamer, foraot £150 in his bedroom at the Pacific Hotel at the Thames, On his arrival in Auckland he was informed for the first time of the loss by a telegram from Mr Curtis; stating that the servaut girl had found the money. Mr Thorn at once telegraphed back to reward the finder with £5.
The old story of the oyster for the lawyer and the shells for the clients was illustrated at Adelaido recently. In an action with reference to an insurance claim, the claim in didpute was £1300, aud the law costs amounted to £19000.
A large fish of the stingarce species has been captured in the vicinity of Saleologa. Western Polynesia. The fish when secured required the whole of the town, which is not a small one, to laud him on the beach. The monster was estimated to weigh not less than two tous.
