MELBOURNE, Dec. 27.
There has been nothing but amusements and festivity the last few days, _ and Melbourne has been crowded with visitors. The Canterbury cricketers were to have been received by a deputation of the East Melbourne Club, but the Arawata stuck on a mud bank, and did not arrive in town till the next morning. Cricket is being played everywhere. The pantomimes tbis year arc not much good, the scenery is pretty fair, but little iv the Avay of novelty.
