RETURN OF MR COLEMAN. The nomination of candidates:for the position of Mayor of Parnell took place to-day. The only nomination! received was that °*^ r W. Coleman, solicitor, who" was nominated by Councillors Wood, Clarice, ;Winks, Odium, and McKenzie, and .ex-Councillors Kobmson, Cozens, Dyer, and Flood. There bang no opposition, Dr Home declared Mr >Vm. : Coleman to be duly elected Mayor ot ParnelL An exciting contest' for^be position.was anticipated, and Messrs Pargavilie, Melton, and Strange were spoken of a*pw>" bable candidates—the latter gentleman being expected to enter the lists merely to. oppose Mr Coleman. However,, .the r generai sympathy expressed with the candiaaliiiEe of Mr Colemaa plainly indicated ;thaf w would receive almost unanimous suppo™ This fact no doubt deterred the others from entering the lists; although inthejCaseOT: Mr Dargaville, we understand that^j~ projected departure for Australia >yaa in cause of his retirement.
