The Loss of H.M.S. Eurydice.

OUR cable messages last evening announced the loss of H.M.s training ship Eurydice, which capsized off Durmore Isle, when only two men out of about 400 succeeded in saving themselves. The Eurydice was a sailing vessel of 4 guns, 921 tons, and was used as a training-ship for seamen. She was returning from a cruise to the West Indies. n „ . The Grenada " Chronicle and Gazette ot the Bth January, says : " H.M.S. Eurydice (4) arrived off this port on the evening ot the sth instant, and sent a boat ashore for her despatches, which had been left here by the packet. On the following evening she came into the Carenage, and is watering and provisioning, whilst the crew and officers are enjoying themselves ashore. In a harbour like ours,—free from sharks,-it is a great treat to the crews of the-e ships to enjoy sea-bathing ; and, as a rule, whenever a man-of-war arrives the luxury is indulged in. The Eurydice is one of the staunch old wooden walls, and is no stranger to our waters. She is of the 6th rate, 1014 tons measurement, and is used as a trainingship for ordinary seamen, of whom there are 200 on board, exclusive of the ship s company of 100 officers and men. She left England on the 3rd November, for a cruise during the winter months among the Windward Islands, and arrived at Barbados on the 19th December. On the voyage she touched at Lisbon, Madeira, and Tenentte. We are indebted to the kindness of her Paymaster, Frank Pitman Esq., for the following list of the officers:—Captain, Marcus A. S. Hare; Lieutenants, Fraucis H Tabor, Wm. E. Black, C. V. Strange, Stanley A. H. Burney; Staff Surgeon, James L. Whitney; Sub-Lieuts., Hon. Edward R. Gifford, Herbert S. Edmunds, Walter S. Smith; Surgeon, Robert Murdoch, M.B. ; Gunner, Fred Allen ; Boatswain, Jos. Warron, Wm. Brewer ; Assistant Clerk, Wm. Lamont. The Eurydice was commissioned on the 7th of February last. She will leave to-morrow

evening."
